How far in advance should I book my session?
Your session should be booked as early as possible since my schedule fills up fast. Please try and allow at least a month, possibly longer if you want a weekend date. For maternity sessions, plan on scheduling your session between your 28th and 36th week. Newborn sessions should be booked early in pregnancy (I will block off some dates around your due date to allow for early or late arrivals). If you do wait until last minute, though, please feel free to give me a call! I will do my best to try and squeeze you in!
How much do portrait sessions cost?
Please see my Pricing page for current rates.
What is the best time of day for portrait sessions?
My favorite time of day to work is in the late afternoon, within the two hours before sunset. I also love early morning sessions, within the first couple hours after sunrise. The light is at the right angle to make exceptional photos during those times. However, I know that those times aren't always convenient for everyone. I will gladly schedule sessions for any time of day and will work with the light to ensure that you receive beautiful photographs.
Do you offer prints?
Yes! I offer a full selection of professional quality prints, canvases, keepsake albums, and other products. While I do provide you with printing rights for your images following your session, I highly encourage purchasing products through my lab. Print pricing starts at just $10. All products are printed on archival paper or canvas of the highest quality. Please contact me for a complete price list for all products offered.
What if it rains or snows?
In the event of poor weather, your session may need to be rescheduled. Sometimes this can happen very last minute, as it's not always possible to predict the weather precisely. If we do reschedule, I will do everything I can to ensure we find a new date and time that works for you, as close to the original session date as possible.
What should I wear?
This is the most common question people ask after booking! I've made up a handy "What to Wear" style guide that should help! You can find it here: http://www.jessicahughesphoto.com/what-to-wear
Can I bring my own props?
If you have items that you'd like to include in your session, bring them! I've had clients bring everything from wagons, to favorite stuffed toys, to fresh flowers. I love making your creative ideas come to life! If you have something in mind, feel free to talk to me about it! If you let me know in advance, we can come up with a plan to make sure your items and ideas get used.
When will my photos be ready?
Following your session, please allow a maximum of two weeks for your online gallery to be ready. You will receive your USB drive a few days after your gallery goes live.
What are Mini Sessions?
Mini Sessions are special days when I hold numerous sessions back-to-back at a specific location. These are usually held for a certain season or holiday (such as Spring or Holiday Mini Sessions). They are typically 20 minutes long and include digital prints, but will sometimes vary. Mini Sessions are a great option for folks who want a shorter session at a discounted rate.
Do you photograph weddings?
I am not currently offering wedding or event photography. I do offer engagement and anniversary sessions, though!
Do you travel for sessions?
I typically work within a 30-minute driving distance from Auburn, MA, but I am happy to travel farther for the right session. Whether you're looking for portraits at the beach, or at your family's cabin in the mountains, I'd love to discuss details and give you a quote! Tell me where your dream session would be and let's make it happen!
