Below are some great options in the area for you to hold your portrait session! Some of these I use regularly, and have included photos for you to see. If you have your own ideas, let me know! I'm happy to discuss other possibilities with you, and love scouting out new places! If you decide to pick your own location, please note that you are fully responsible for obtaining permission to use the location, particularly if it's private.
Snow pond in Charlton - This little piece of public land is a hidden gem that's right off Stafford St. on Cemetery Rd. It's located across from Fay Mountain Farm, and we can make use of the area around the farm and orchard as well. There's a path that goes around the entire pond, and it offers lots of pretty little spots for photos along the way. I've done a number of sessions there, and it's always beautiful!
Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary in Charlton - This is a cute little spot off route 20. It features forests, a couple neat barns, and some big open fields. http://capenhill.org/ .
River Bend Farm in Uxbridge - River Bend Farm often gets busy, but it's a beautiful location! It has a trail that runs along the Blackstone River and a beautiful bridge with great views of the river. https://www.mass.gov/
Purgatory Chasm in Sutton - This park features lots of great rock formations and forest area for portraits. https://www.mass.
Luks Farm in Auburn - Primarily a Christmas tree farm, but features gorgeous views of a field, pond, and big red barn. It's beautiful year-round!
Howe Park in Spencer - This is a pretty little park with a waterfall, pond, stone walls, and lots of trees. It's easy to get to and almost never busy. You can read more about it here: http://www.mass.gov/
Westville Dam in Sturbridge - This is a great park featuring forests, a lake, river, and big field. I've done sessions here before and there are lots of options for backdrops we can use! https://www.nae.usace.
Buffumville Dam - Located in Oxford, this is a great spot with views of the reservoir, forests, and interesting backdrops along the dam itself.
The Old Stone Church in West Boylson - This is an empty, abandoned church that is open to visitors right on Wachusett Reservoir. It's a really neat location, and is a gorgeous spot, particularly right at sunset.
Moore State Park in Paxton - This is an amazing park with fields, waterfalls, an old mill, a pond, and a covered bridge. The only downside is that it gets very busy, particularly on weekends. I've actually had to wait in line with other photographers to use certain prime spots within the park. If you pick Moore, a weeknight or early morning session would be ideal, but if you're up for being patient we can definitely give it a shot on a weekend day! http://www.mass.gov/eea/
Bancroft Tower in Worcester - Set on a hill overlooking the city, Bancroft Tower is an amazing little castle ruin surrounded by very old trees. https://www.discovercentralma.org/profile/bancroft-tower/
Clark University - Clark is an easy location in Worcester, MA for anyone looking for a great mix of urban and natural landscapes! Their open campus policy makes it easily accessible, and you can expect a fun mix of stone, brick, and greenery for your backdrops here. It's also my alma mater, so I'm very familiar with the campus layout.
